Dear Father God, “Abba,” my Father. I don’t know what to pray for this morning. Time is slipping away. I have read your Word for the last 23 minutes, and I don’t know what you are saying this morning. Please help me hear you.
Child, I am always communicating with you. You know that. I love you. You are mine, and I am yours. Yes, Lord, that is true, but usually, you give me some special message. And this morning, as I search your Scriptures, there is so much wisdom. So much rich teaching. But I don’t know what to write about. Dear child, you don’t have to worry about what to say. Just be with me this morning. That is enough. Father God, I have readers who will be disappointed to only receive this casual conversation back and forth, with nothing profound. Child, being with me is profound. It is enough. Just sitting with me, in my presence, open and teachable – that is enough. OK, Lord. I give up, but I just wish you would give me something more profound. Are you not listening? Being with me is enough. Very well. I will just “be” with you. You are in control. You do whatever you want with my fingers on this keyboard, Lord God. I am yours. Yes, child. This time is valuable. And the discipline of sitting in a time of prayer and devotion every day is something special. I want all my children to do this. Lord, it has transformed my life. You have called me out from my former way of life to be transformed. Thank you. WE ARE ALL CALLED TO BE TRANSFORMED Friends, here are some scriptures that underscore the point that we are all called to be transformed: Romans 12:2: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.” 2 Corinthians 3:18: “And we all, who with unveiled faces, contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” Ephesians 4:22-24: “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” SITTING WITH CHRIST IS ENOUGH My lesson this morning is that sitting with Christ is enough. It does not have to be a profound experience all the time. But the discipline of sitting with God daily transforms us. We become like the people we spend time with, and if we want to become like Christ, and become more Christ-like, we have to spend the time with Him. There is no substitute for this time alone with God. Dear child, I yearn to have fellowship with all my children. I want them to come to me daily before the business of their earthly lives takes over and clutters their minds with other things. And yes, if they spend time with me, I will shape and transform them to conform more to my image and likeness. Lord God, to be more like you means to be more loving for me. Please give me your heart and help me to see the world better through your eyes and to love those you put into my life with your love. Child, the more time you spend with me, the more that happens. Do not be discouraged by today’s time together. It was fruitful, even though you did not get what you were looking for. Well, I did get the idea of the “Call to Be Transformed.” That is the title of today’s post. So, I did get that. And I read some great wisdom. I got filled with your Word. And, I fulfilled my commitment to spend an hour per day with you. So, I feel I got a lot out of today, after all. See what happens when you show up out of obedience to me and the Holy Spirit. You honored me with a tithe of your time. Lord, it is not my time. It is your time. You have all the time, and you have all of me, to the degree of my surrender to you. Help me to let go even more. To fully surrender to you. To hold nothing back. Dear child, I accept you and your gift of time with me. Your offering is acceptable and just. Thank you, Lord God. Have your way with me today. And have your way with all who read this. Bless us, Lord God, and transform us into being more and more like you every day. That is happening, my child. Continue being consistent in spending time with me, and I will make you into the person I have created you to be. Amen, Lord God. Thank you. Your aspiring servant, Daniel M.
