I can’t imagine what God feels as he watches how we humans treat each other. People, in general, left up to their own devices, treat each other poorly at times. We are capable of great goodness, and great harm. We are capable of great love, and great hate. Why? A scripture comes to mind: “But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’”
Dear child, when I created Adam and Eve, my creation was perfect. Perfect in every way, for I have perfect love, and perfect love allows the created to have free will. That free will allows my creation to choose between voluntary obedience to the Creator, me, or not. Yes, you have free will. Since the beginning of my creation, there have been choices made, and they continue to be made, to this day. People choose surrender to me and my will, or not. Every person must choose for themselves. Lord, God, I want to choose to be obedient to you. But sometimes, I choose poorly. I choose self-will over God’s will. Daniel’s way over God’s way. I repent for those times and ask your forgiveness. I am sad when I look at the times I choose poorly. Please help me to always, and consistently, choose your will over mine. My child, you are not perfect. There is only one human being that was ever perfect. That one is Jesus Christ, me. God. I took human form. I was totally human for my time at earth. I too was sad. Not with myself, for I lived a perfect life to show you what I want from you. But I was sad at the way my creation behaved, and how you treated each other. I was particularly sad about my chosen people, the Jewish nation, whom I have chosen to be my special people, to carry my message to the world of all my creation. Leaders, in particular, made me very sad, for they abused their role as leaders. They did not represent me, but instead served their own interests. And that is still true to this day. All over the world, in every nation, leaders are abusing their position of leadership, both in governments, marketplaces, and religious institutions, to serve themselves instead of me. Lord Jesus, Father God, Holy Spirit, what are we to do with all this mess that we have created on earth? We have failed you as your created beings, and squandered the gift of your Holy Presence in our lives. We, as the human race, have behaved very poorly with the precious gift of life you have given us. The way we treat each other is often so very bad, and there is so much evil in the world. Why? My child, satan and all the other fallen angels are also my creation. They were also given free will. They also had the power to choose obedience to me versus service to their own self interests. These fall angels, now demons, have chosen to follow the chief of all fallen angels, satan, your enemy, and mine. Their collective agenda is to overthrow my Kingdom. They are at war with me, and with you. “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 1:8 NIV) You are not each other’s enemies. But satan and his demons are your enemies. Be strong, and resist hurting each other. I have called you to love each other, with my love. My love is perfect, and it will bring you great joy and peace, if you keep my Word. Lord Jesus, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:11 NIV) But I fail so many times to live up to your standards, Lord Jesus. And that makes me sad. I echo the Apostle Paul’s words: “15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.” (Romans 7:15-20 NIV) Lord Jesus, I don’t want sin to live inside of me. I want you to remove all sin, once and for all, forever, from me, right now. I don’t mean to demand this of you Lord Jesus. But I do plead it. Please. Dear child, I understand what you want, and I love your heart, for it seeks me and my will in your life. I assure you, there is a day coming when you will be with me, in heaven. At that time, you will no longer have a sin nature. The problem you are sad about now will be forever removed, and you will be completely holy and righteous, without any sin or blemish on your soul, and you will live and reign with me for eternity. You will have total joy, peace, and love. But until then, you will have a duality to deal with on a daily basis. Your sin nature will want to do things that are selfish and self-centered. The Holy Spirit inside of you will want to obey and please me. And you will fight against your sin nature the rest of your earthly existence. You will also be under attack from satan and his demons. And the more you serve me, the greater the attacks will be. But I have given you a way out of falling into sin: My Holy Spirit, My Holy Word, and My Holy Presence in your life. We have a relationship that will comfort you when you fail, and rejoice with you when you succeed in living the life I want you to live. And know, after every failure, I will be always there to pick you back up, and help you regain solid footing with me, grounded in my Word and our relationship. Lord Jesus, thank you for your comfort this morning. Please likewise comfort my fellow Christ-followers who are dealing with the same dilemma. May you receive all the glory and honor for anything good that we do, and may we fully surrender each and every minute of each and every day to you, Lord God, Heavenly Father, Christ Jesus, and Holy Spirit: Blessed Triune God of All. Amen.
